While this website provides general information, it does not constitute legal advice. The best way to get guidance on your specific legal issue is to contact a lawyer. To schedule a meeting with an attorney, please call or complete the form above.

Paid consultations are one hour long, and in addition to giving the client and the firm the chance to assess a possible representational relationship, limited legal advice can be provided which addresses a client’s specific questions and concerns. Please note that participating in a paid consult does not mean RPM Law is representing you in your matter, as the legal advice provided is limited to the consult itself.

The fee for a paid consult is $325 per hour of discussion with an attorney, paid in advance (at the time of scheduling the appointment). Additional time, if needed, will be charged at the same rate, in minimum one-hour increments. If you have documents you want the attorney to review in advance and provide them to the firm before your appointment (strongly recommended), please keep in mind that the time necessary for reviewing them will be deducted from the hour allotted to the consult appointment.

The more information you can provide to the attorney, the more useful and productive your time will be. Simply sitting down to discuss your case with an attorney, without sufficient details and background information, will not prove effective. Our objective is to give you the information you want and need, but might be limited in our ability to do so without knowing all the facts. It’s most efficient if you come to the consultation session with a list of specific questions to be addressed.

A free consultation with the firm is designed to give the prospective client and the firm both the opportunity to discuss potential representation in general terms. No legal advice is given during a free consultation. Rather, the free consultation is intended to provide general information about the firm, the process of litigation and the framework of a representational relationship.

Think of the free consultation as a two-way interview; a prospective client can get a feel for the firm and the lawyer, and the firm can in turn assess whether the case presents a good fit for Team RPM’s practice.

Regardless of whether a prospective client decides to hire the firm to do any work for them, our goal is always to ensure that you are better informed about what to expect in dealing with your legal matter, and better equipped to make the important decision as to whether you need a lawyer.

While the firm offers these free consultations at no charge, we do require a $100 deposit be placed at the time of scheduling the consult to hold your slot in our very busy calendar. As long as you attend your consult as scheduled, the deposit will be refunded to you afterwards – whether or not you hire the firm to do any work for you. No-shows or cancellations with less than 24 hour notice forfeit the consultation deposit.

RPM Law offers prospective clients two options for consulting regarding their legal matter; a free 30-minute discussion or a paid one-hour legal advice session. Both options are one-on-one conversations with an attorney.

While in-person consultations are strongly preferred, the firm does offer to conduct consultations remotely via videoconferencing applications (such as Zoom or MicroSoft Teams) when an in-office meeting is not possible for the client. These applications require a computer, laptop or smart phone, but are free to use.

These two options – free or paid consultation – serve very different purposes, and are discussed in more detail below. Regardless of which option you choose, it is very helpful for you to have the following information at the ready (if available):

  • Case number, if there is already an active case
  • Assigned Bench (Judge or Commissioner) if there is already an active case
  • Opposing Counsel, if known
  • Any scheduled hearing dates, pending substantial events or deadlines

Whichever mode you select for your consult, a conflict check will need to be run prior to scheduling the consultation; you will need to provide the firm the Opposing Party’s name at the time of scheduling to ensure no conflicts exist.
